If a point moves a long a parametric curve p(t), then the vector from the origin to the point is the position vector.
P(t)= (x(t), y(t)); x is the horizontal component and y is the vertical component. The velocity vector is the derivative of the position vector. The acceleration vector is the second derivative of the position vector (therefore the derivative of the velocity vector).
